It is so fitting that my last run of 2009 was a microcosm of the entire running year.
1. I was hopeful for a great run, but didn’t really know what to expect.
2. It took a little while to warm up and shake off the rust, stiffness.
3. I had moments of bliss and moments of grinding.
4. I saw many elite runners who provided motivation and sparked insecurity.
5. I had to deal with some unpleasant weather. The last 2 miles I basically ran with my eyes closed as snow, wind peppered my face. For the majority of the run, weather wasn’t an issue at all.
6. I finished excited for my next run, but tired enough to enjoy stopping.
Kind of interesting, huh? I couldn’t have scripted it any better.
No tempo today either. After running for 9 of the last 10 days, I didn’t have it in me this morning to drop the hammer. Still, I hit my monthly target! I’m glad tomorrow is a rest day. In total, 7.84 miles @ 8:34.
Next up Year in Review / 2010 goals.
