After such a stellar interval workout yesterday, I knew I had to guard against pushing it too hard for a scheduled easy day. I’ve done it before. Allowing the “go fast or go home” mentality throw me off for an entire week. Not good.
Under overcast and gloomy skies, I set off on the paths. Despite being the Thanksgiving Eve, there was a solid contingent of runners this morning … a mix of regulars, new folks and out-of-towners. I eased into the run, as I was very conscious of how my legs felt (strong) and breathing (nonexistent). I really wanted (and deserved) a very easy, minimal effort run. I must say – mission accomplished. I felt in complete control, as everything was in sync from the first step until the last. I didn’t monitor splits today, but knew I was in negative split territory on my last 1.5 miles … I just felt stronger and faster than when I started. I dare say … I was gliding. Yes!
The results were solid, if not on the slower side (but that’s what I wanted) … 9.08 miles @ 8:45. I felt so good during the Last Mile Party that I almost added another loop. However, for that reason (feeling good), I called it a morning.
Looking forward to getting up early tomorrow to get in a run before heading to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (family ritual). Need to make room for turkey and all the fixin’s.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
